Can Immune Systems be strengthened? The need to Strengthen Immune System is a question many ask and it is even much more popular a question during this period of global pandemic. Why is a strengthen immune system important?

A healthy immune system protects you by creating a barrier that stops invaders like bacteria from entering your body. If one happens to slip by, it starts to produce white blood cells and other chemicals that attack and destroy these foreign substances.

What lifestyle choices can help to strengthen immune system?

Eat well

If you reduce your intake of highly processed and sugary foods, but increase your intake of fresh, healthy ones; as well as diligently taking in balanced diet, you will increase or boost your immune system

Sleep Well

Sleep is good for everything and there are two reasons why it is essential to boost immune systems. First, stress hormones dip while you are asleep – that’s important because these hormones dampen your immune response. Secondly, a good night’s sleep boosts the effectiveness of specialised immune cells, called T-cells. T-cells help the body in recognising foreign invaders and activating the proteins that attach to and kill them. Studies show that people who sleep for less than 7 hours a night are around 3 times more likely to catch a cold than those sleeping for 8 hours or more. So…get sleeping!

Exercise Well

Exercise slows the release of stress hormones, while at the same time improves natural immune defense activity.
Anything that gets your heart pumping will help build your immune system.  Your immune system responds almost immediately to exercise.

Think Well

Your mind can affect your immune system! Research shows that positive thoughts reduce stress and inflammation and increase resilience to infection, while negative emotions can make you more susceptible to the common cold and flu. So, start focusing on positive things and learn the skills of thinking well so you can strengthen your immune system

In conclusion, you can take charge of your immune system with these four simple things that are actually within your control – so take charge!
